HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS AND ESPN TO AIR NEW 30-MINUTE TV SPECIAL

Hosted by Ant Atkinson, special will celebrate team’s amazing moments and trick shots

(ATLANTA, Nov. 10, 2017) – For the first time, the Harlem Globetrotters and ESPN are teaming up to bring viewers and fans of the team some of the best trick shots, world records, and all-around amazing moments.

Airing on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 9:30 p.m. EST (check local listings) on ESPN2, the “Best of the Best” special will capture some of the recent record-breaking memorable moments and highlights of the Globetrotters’ 91-year history of entertaining fans all over the world. Hosted by current Globetrotter star Ant Atkinson, the 30-minute special will showcase the top dazzling shots made and Guinness World Records titles that the team has set.

Fans of the Harlem Globetrotters will have a special treat in store at the end of the program, as well. Atkinson will show off his own shot-making skills – taking a crack at a trick shot from the top of the historic Navy Dive Tower at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

“There are so many amazing and iconic moments that the Harlem Globetrotters have produced in its history,” Atkinson said. “To be able to put some of the top record-breaking ones together for fans and viewers of the team in this ESPN special, is pretty awesome.”

The Globetrotters are coming off another record-setting week, which saw them add their 17th Guinness World Record title, with the highest upwards basketball shot of 50 feet, 1 inch by Thunder Law. The record was set as a part of the 13th annual Guinness World Records Day, which the Globetrotters participated in for the fourth consecutive year. One month earlier, the Globetrotters set another Guinness World Record title in front of a national television audience on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” when the team set a new record for most half-court basketball shots in an hour with 348.
