Masterworks 4: Eine Kleine Rhine Musik

“Each season I choose a concert to explore my favorite Germanic composers, and with Brahms’ inspired Haydn Variations, you can hear how he wanted to create music of deep intellectual rigor and intense emotional experience. Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C is as joyous as it is virtuosic. Schumann’s ‘Rhenish’ Symphony sweeps you along the famed German waterway in an evocative musical journey, complete with its famous sonic representation of Cologne’s great cathedral.” – Daniel Meyer

Cicely Parnas, cello

American cellist Cicely Parnas, praised for her “velvety sound, articulate passagework and keen imagination” (The New York Times), attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, and made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2012.
